this fan BLOWS! ;)
here's a few backgrounds on where i am - i'm in a room that is in constant sunlight all day long - on long island in NY. i work from home, to boot, so i've usually got the TV and laptop on. needless to say, i'm in the room alot and thee is a lot of "heat" sources on in the room most of the time.
i am not someone that likes the frigid dryness of an AC, so when i start noticing the heat (usually at about 80 degrees) i kick on the AC for about 10 minutes and then I shut it off again until it starts getting hot. Usually about once every hour or so, I do this.
With this fan, I haven't kicked the AC on once. The room drops about 2 degrees with the fan constantly circulating air (i've got a temperature gauge in my room) and its low wattage (35 on low, 39/40 on medium, and 46 on high and on HIGH it reaaaally moves some crazy air) beats my AC any day (500 watts on low). I can literally run this fan for 12 hours and it's still far less wattage than my AC at one hour.
The oscillation feature is awesome, you don't hear it moving at all the way some tower fans and oscillating fans can be heard. Whether this will degrade over time, I am not sure - it most likely will as all things degrade - but for now it's working perfect. The ionizer feature is really only going to improve 2 things - the gathering of dust in a room and the "freshness" of the air. If you don't notice the ionizer doing anything, then congrats, you already have a fresh smelling room that isn't that dusty. I notice that it does work though bc i've got a large amount of cardboard boxes in this room (i sell and ship items for a living) and cardboard sure can stink. Well this ionizer kicks that odor out and circulates a cool fresh breeze.
The timer mode works like a charm and the "sleep" mode, is kinda neat, but kinda weird as i wouldn't recommend it for sleeping. it works erratically between low, medium, high, off and provides more of a natural breeze than anything that i'd recommend sleeping on. the constant variation of noise of the fans (which are pretty quiet, but at night they will seem louder bc everything is quieter) will most likely keep you up if you use it in the bedroom. For a natural breeze though, it's a good choice setting.
The fan is also very powerful, on low you can feel a breeze from about 10 feet away. On medium, about 15 feet away, and on high about 20 to 25 feet away. it's pretty awesome :) the remote feature is great too although at times, when its oscillating, it can be hard to get it at the "right" time and line it up. for the most part, that's going to be a problem with an oscillating remote controlled fan.
overall, its a superb fan and i really recommend buying it.
The "Ionizer" feature on this fan is a joke
If you are buying this for a quiet fan only, great. If you're looking for a room ionizer, don't waste your time!
After running this in the same room for three days (with the Ion function turned on), I noticed absolutely no difference in the quality of the air, nor can you even remove the "Ionizer" from the fan to clean it, likely because there isn't one!
Don't bother with this piece of junk.
great fan for the price
bought this fan to replace a very noisy tower fan. this fan is about a foot shorter than my old fan, but puts out more air and is very quiet. this is a super nice fan and i don't find anything about it that isn't better than my old fan. buy it.
Worth every penny!
I love how the fan does it's job. The fan is strong and it cools the room without a hitch! A definite buy for the money!
Quiet, efficient
I have it in the corner of my home office, and turn it on when the room is too hot. It cools me without my having to use the air conditioner. In my setup it was a little short, so I put it on a stand.
